Our main focus is the surgical and medical treatment of skin disease. All of the associated dermatologists at Saddleback Dermatology Laser + Cosmetic Center are board certified and together have decades of clinical experience.
In addition to clinical practice, they have held teaching positions as Clinical Professors at the University of California in Irvine. Ira Bell, MDDr. Bell was born in New Jersey where he completed his undergraduate and medical school training at Rutgers University. He is a member of The National Honor Society, Phi Beta Kappa and Alpha Omega Alpha, the honors medical society. Dr. Bell completed an internal medicine residency at Georgetown Hospital followed immediately by his Dermatology residency at the University of California Irvine. He is board certified in both Internal Medicine and Dermatology. He taught dermatologic surgery at UCI as a clinical professor for some time after graduating their program.

Karen G. Benik, MDDr. Benik is a board certified dermatologist with over 25 years of experience in medical and surgical dermatology with a special emphasis on cosmetic and laser dermatology. She completed her undergraduate degree in Biology, summa cum laude, at California State University of Long Beach. She went on to the University of California, Irvine, where she received her medical degree, completed her Dermatology Residency and was named Resident Teacher of the year. She is a published author in the Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology, studying Retin A and its effects on skin and photo aging.
Dr. Benik has spent 14 years as an Associate Clinical Professor in Dermatology at UCI where she taught both surgery and supervised outpatient clinics. She has served as both a member of the Board of Directors and President of the Orange County Society of Dermatologists. As part of her dedication to improving public awareness of skin care, Dr. Benik has been featured on several radio and television programs including Cox 3’s The Mix and American Health Journal on PBS. Dr. Benik has also been named a “Top Orange County Dermatologist” by Orange Coast Magazine. Dr. Benik has a true passion for the field of medical, surgical, and cosmetic dermatology and remains committed to the individual needs of her patients.

Azin Meshkinpour, MDDr. Meshkinpour is a board certified dermatologist who practices medical, surgical (including Mohs surgery for skin cancers) and cosmetic dermatology. She completed her undergraduate education and her Masters in Public Health (MPH) degrees at UCLA. She then completed her medical and dermatology residency at the University of California, Irvine (UCI). Dr. Meshkinpour spent an additional year at UCI as a research fellow performing clinical trials in Psoriasis. She continues to have a special interest in treating psoriasis and skin cancers. She is a fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology and the American Society of Mohs Surgery.

Kim Tang, MDDr. Kim Tang has practiced general and cosmetic dermatology at Saddleback Dermatology & Laser Center in Lake Forest, CA since 1996. Her patients come from as far away as North L.A. County, Las Vegas, Texas, Georgia and North Carolina for her expertise. Dr. Kim Tang also specializes in dermatologic surgery, performing Mohs surgery, a highly complex form of cosmetic reconstruction surgery, to treat skin cancer patients.
Adding an innate gift of talent to her accolades, Dr. Kim Tang completed her undergraduate years at UC Irvine, where she earned her Bachelor's, magna cum laude, in Biological Sciences. She graduated from UC Irvine medical school with honors, earning membership to the highest medical honor society, Alpha Omega Alpha, and completed her 3-year residency in Dermatology at the University of California, Irvine. In 1995, Dr. Kim Tang was awarded the Diplomate, American Board of Dermatology and was re-certified in 2005 and 2015. Dr. Tang specializes in the art of nonsurgical facial lifts. She has been able to skillfully combine the use of lasers, Botox, and dermal fillers to provide patients with a youthful and fresh experience without the risks and downtime of surgery.

Kim Phan PA-CKim Phan PA-C is a nationally board certified Physician Assistant specializing in medical dermatology. Kim received a Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies from Western University of Health Sciences where she received extensive training in Family Medicine, Emergency Medicine, General Surgery, Ob/Gyn, Pediatrics, and Dermatology and graduated with Summa Cum Laude Honors. She is born and raised in Orange County and is dedicated to providing compassionate, patient centered dermatological care to her community. In her free time she enjoys cooking, exploring new restaurants and spending time with her two fur children and family.
